Your safety and comfort are our top priorities. While waxing is generally a safe and effective hair removal method, there are certain conditions and circumstances that may prevent us from performing waxing treatments on certain areas of your body. Here are some important considerations to keep in mind:
Contagious Skin Conditions: If you have any contagious skin conditions, such as fungal infections or viral warts, we will need to postpone waxing until the condition has completely cleared. This is to prevent the spread of infection and ensure the health and safety of both our clients and our staff.
Use of Certain Skincare Products: Some skincare products containing ingredients like salicylic acid, glycolic acid, or alpha hydroxy acids can cause the skin to lift during waxing. Similarly, aggressive exfoliation treatments like microdermabrasion or chemical peels can make the skin more sensitive and prone to irritation during waxing. If you are using any of these products or undergoing these treatments, it's best to wait until your skin has fully recovered before scheduling a waxing appointment.
Prescription Medications: Certain prescription medications, such as antibiotics, Accutane, or topical ointments like Retin-A or Renova, can thin the skin and increase the risk of lifting or irritation during waxing. If you are taking any of these medications, please inform us before your appointment so we can assess whether waxing is suitable for you.
Other Products to Consider: Products like Strivectin, Proactiv, Avita, and Avage can also affect the skin's sensitivity and reaction to waxing. Clients who have taken Roaccutane must wait at least six months after finishing their medication before receiving a waxing treatment.
Skin Conditions and Sensitivities: We are unable to wax skin that is sunburned, chafed, or broken, as this can increase the risk of pain, irritation, and potential damage to the skin. Additionally, if you have used steroid creams on the area to be waxed within the last three months, we may need to postpone your waxing appointment.
Timing Considerations: To minimise discomfort and ensure the best results, we recommend avoiding waxing appointments one week before and after your menstrual cycle. Additionally, it's best to wait at least 24 hours after a spray tan, suntan, or solarium treatment before getting waxed, as these treatments can increase skin sensitivity. While we take every precaution to ensure a safe and comfortable waxing experience, it's important to keep in mind that individual skin reactions can vary.
